Since they SAY they don't believe in hell, I use the expression “Wrath of God” when speaking to them.
what is with jw's and the use of the term 'hell fire'?
i know of no other people who use this term, even those who do not believe in hell.
try having a discussion with a jw on the concept (or lack thereof) of hell and they cannot bring themselves to refer to it as simply 'hell', why must it be 'hell fire'?.

hi all.... so my mom phoned me up this morning and said she needed to talk to me about something.
she asked me whether or not our (worldly) family thought that my husband and i were witnesses anymore.
one, someone in my family said to her, "i didn't know you guys wear short dresses like that" - commenting on a slightly above the knee dress i had worn to a family event.
We haven't ever really made super close friends within the organization ... but the friends that we do have are at least ... wholesome, I guess I would say. And I like that, that's the kind of people I want to be friends with. Just without the obligation of having to do meetings and service
Do YOU really think and honestly believe that the only "wholesome" people in the whole world are JWs ? If so don't worry about the WT KOOLAID, you're already DEAD. And thinking that way will do far more harm to your kids.
why were we so suprised people did not join in droves!

I'm asking you what you meant when you said: "Faith in God makes one righteous, does it not?". Then you said: "Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness". Do you think faith being credited to someone, is the same as someone being righteous?
Were you quoting Romans 5:7? If so I'm not sure why, how does that play into this?

As I said, I'm not directing my criticism at you personally, so there is no need of any apology. It’s just that the theology you seem to hold, comes across that way sometimes. You aren’t the only person on this board that believes it either, and I’m sure plenty of people find my beliefs offensive in some way (I have to say I seem to get in more trouble with believers than anyone else).
I have a very hard time with the way many in the church today that seem to think that if they just add Jesus to their life, that somehow their new Christian morals will make them better, than the next guy. (I know you didn't say that, but at times that's the message some people get.)
When you talk about free will, I'd like to ask you this question, What is it about YOU, that you made this decision to believe in Christ? What is it about so many others who decide not to believe? If we all have this free will why would so many chose not to believe? Do you see where I’m going with this?
I believe Paul when he said “as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one."
I believe even my worship is riddled with sin. So, even as a believer, I have nothing about myself to boast about, I’m certainly no smarter or better behaved or morally superior to anyone in any way.
I believe Christ/God is the only righteous one.
As I read scripture, every time I see something about “a righteous man” I see Jesus, no one else and certainly not myself.

So "credited to him as righteousness." means becoming righteous, to you?

It should be noted though that worshipping God doesn't mean one is saved, as Christ said "Many will come calling saying Lord, Lord and I will say I Knew you Not" ( paraphrasing).
So, are works efficacious or not? Are Humans able to become righteous by making righteous choices?

so you are saying Adam was unrighteous before he sinned?
Yes! The purpose of the law (don't eat the fruit) was to expose that.
Rom 5:13
for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law.

My point was that Adam was innocent, before the fall, not righteous. If he were "righteous" (like Christ/God) he would have never sinned.

Deputy Dog - Thanks for your honesty. There is so much about your position that I find objectionable but I respect that you have a consistent and coherent theology.
Thanks for the respect and the opertunity to share my view.

I want to start by saying I'm sorry if it looks like I'm picking on YOU, this is about the bigger picture.
Where in what I posted did I say a CHristian is Better than anyone else?
Granted it seems to imply that and I apologise for the wording if it went in that direction.
What I was trying to convey is what the ideal goal for a Christian is.
It’s self-righteous to even think even that YOU can.
A Christian trying to be a better person because of Gods love for him, (not to earn Gods love) is no better than anyone else that is trying to be a better person for their own reasons.
And that’s my point, it no different either. That’s humanistic thinking. But to believe that God will sanctify you in the time and way of HIS choosing is something else altogether different.
Fully human As God intended, for us all.
It was poorly worded, I apologize because I didn't mean to imply that.
If one believes we are created in God's image and that "image" was damaged by the Fall, then to be "whole again", what is broken must be fixed and that is where CHrist comes in ( for a Christian).
This is a good place to expose another WT lie. This implies that Christ’s life, death, and resurrection was plan B
Fully human AS GOD INTENDED.
If you beleive in the Fall then you understand what I mean.
I believe in the fall, but, I don’t agree with what you mean. I look forward to the day of my completion and the day I’ll be conformed to the Image of His Son.
I don’t want to go back to the image of Adam in the garden.
I don't think that anyone here thiks humans have reached their FULL potential, have we?
Well, I’m sure someone will come along and beat out Hitler’s evil.
